My grandma is dying. I went to the hospital and she’s barely clinging to whatever life she has left. She won’t eat or take her meds. She wouldn’t even really talk besides nodding. I went to leave and she looked straight at me and in the clearest voice she goes “you are so beautiful” and it terrified me. She wouldn’t talk to her husband, or her daughter, or her nurse, or my mom, or her (as my family has always called my cousin) #1 granddaughter. But I put my hand on hers and she looked me in the eyes and said that.
